Thank you, Dr Pamela Brear

After many years of dedicated service, Dr Pamela Brear has stepped down from the PACFA Board.

On behalf of the Board and the wider PACFA community, we thank her and recognise a contribution to the profession that will be felt for many years to come.

Pamela's commitment to the profession began well before PACFA. A long-standing member of the Counselling Association of South Australia, she joined PACFA through her association membership in 2001, bringing with her years of experience and a deep sense of service. In the more than two decades since, the generosity with which she has given her time and expertise has been deeply appreciated by the Board, volunteers and PACFA staff.

Most recently, in October 2022, Pamela returned to the Board taking on the role of Chair of the Professional Standards Committee. In this role she was instrumental in developing PACFA's Registration Standards and the Associated Standards and Good Practice Guidelines that have prepared PACFA to become a proud and respected member of Allied Health Professions Australia (AHPA) and, in due course, the National Alliance of Self-Regulating Health Professions (NASRHP).

Pamela was one of the first PACFA Members to be recognised with a Life Membership, a recognition reserved for those whose contribution to the Federation has been truly exceptional. It is a fitting reflection of all she has given.

As she steps down from both the Board and the Professional Standards Committee, we thank Pamela for her years of service, her wisdom, and her steadfast commitment to raising the standards for registration of counselling and psychotherapy in Australia. We wish her all the best in the future.
