Hanelie Swart (BCounselling, DipCounselling), originally from South Africa, immigrated to Australia in 2006 and proudly holds Australian citizenship. After establishing a private practice in Adelaide in 2019, she relocated to Hindmarsh Island in November 2022. Her previous practice served a diverse clientele ranging from primary school children to retirees, with equal representation from both age groups. Collaboration with the wellbeing support department allowed her to address identified needs. Hanelie found joy in working with individuals across various life stages. Her experience encompasses depression, anxiety, grief and loss, acceptance and commitment therapy, relationship issues, as well as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), in addition to supporting other disabilities. Having recently established a practice in Goolwa, she is currently in the growth phase, focusing on adult clients. Her practice welcomes individuals with disabilities, including NDIS participants (self-managed and plan-managed). Hanelie offers face-to-face, virtual, and small group therapy sessions. Her placement at Sids & Kids SA, a bereavement service supporting families who have lost children (conception to age six), provided valuable professional and personal experience, fostering a deeper understanding of grief and loss. Additionally, her personal experiences contribute to her ability to connect with children, families, and carers impacted by disabilities. Hanelie's dedication to community service extends beyond her practice. She volunteers as a counsellor with the SAM program, offering support to all South Australia Emergency Services personnel through her membership in the Victor Harbor Goolwa Sea Rescue Squadron. In her free time, Hanelie enjoys creative pursuits such as painting and crafts, as well as unwinding with reading and travel.
