PACFA Joins the Climate and Health Alliance
We are proud to announce that PACFA is now a member of the Climate and Health Alliance (CAHA), joining a growing coalition of health organisations committed to addressing the health impacts of climate change and advocating for a healthier, more sustainable future.
As Australia's leading peak body for counsellors, psychotherapists and Indigenous Healing Practitioners, PACFA recognises that climate change is not only an environmental issue, but also a significant mental health and wellbeing challenge. Increasingly, climate events and disruptions are affecting the psychological wellbeing of people across Australia.
The Climate and Health Alliance bring together more than 100 health sector organisations and hundreds of individual members to promote climate action as a critical public health priority. By joining CAHA, PACFA strengthens the voice of the counselling and psychotherapy profession within national conversations about climate, health and community resilience.
PACFA's participation reflects a growing understanding that supporting mental health in the face of climate change requires both effective therapeutic responses and advocacy for the broader conditions that foster wellbeing. Counsellors and psychotherapists are increasingly helping clients navigate climate-related distress, loss, uncertainty and adaptation, while also supporting communities recovering from natural disasters and environmental change.
Through its membership of CAHA, PACFA looks forward to collaborating with other health sector leaders to advance evidence-based policy, promote climate and health literacy, and contribute to health initiatives.
