PACFA course: Building Your Private Practice Course September 2026
PACFA online short course: The purpose of this course is to equip counselling and psychotherapy professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to establish and run a successful private practice. At the end of the program, the participants will have a solid idea of their business strategy, marketing strategy (including digital and non-digital marketing), brand identity, ideal client profile, and how to use market segmentation to promote their business.
This is a practical, hands-on course where participants will have the opportunity to implement material between sessions. Easy-to-use templates and tools are provided so that learning can be applied immediately. Each session builds on the last, taking participants from the nuts and bolts of getting started through to the marketing and messaging strategies that make a private practice sustainable.
Course sessions:
- Session 1: Private practice fundamentals — memberships, insurance, renting rooms, bookkeeping and admin, business tools, and more.
- Session 2: Vision of your ideal practice and what are the barriers to making it a reality — exploring external hurdles and internal barriers to making a private counselling practice a successful and thriving business.
- Session 3: Finding your niche — exploring personal brand, market segmentation, and ideal client profile.
- Session 4: Getting on the same page — writing copy that attracts your perfect clients to your practice.
- Session 5: Nuts and bolts — specific marketing and social media tools useful in running a private practice.
