Stop Working Harder Than Your Clients
This 3-hour professional development training supports therapists to recognise, understand, and respond to patterns of over-functioning within therapeutic relationships. Integrating foundational reflective awareness with a structured relational framework, the course guides practitioners from early recognition of internal signals through to understanding how responsibility shifts within sessions and how to respond differently without over-functioning. Grounded in systemic and relational principles, the training emphasises practitioner self-awareness, client autonomy, and sustainable clinical practice. Participants are supported to observe interactional patterns, use internal experience as clinically relevant information, and apply this understanding within therapeutic work and supervision context
Participants will recognise early indicators of shifting responsibility in therapy, understand relational patterns of over-functioning, and apply a systemic framework to remain engaged without taking over. The course progresses through three modules: recognising early internal signals, understanding interactional patterns, and responding by restoring appropriate responsibility. Delivered via video teaching, case examples, and reflective exercises.
