What you’ll do

The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in systemic practice and theory, consistently focusing on the safety and well-being of clients and their families. This role requires a thorough understanding of child development, individual and systemic issues, Domestic and Family Violence, mental health, and child protection. The candidate should possess extensive knowledge of relevant internal and external services to make appropriate client referrals. Adherence to all agency and program policies is crucial, including meticulous documentation and administrative tasks. Active participation in both individual and group clinical supervision is essential. The candidate must also maintain an up-to-date understanding of post-separation issues, Family Law processes, and relevant legislation, including the Family Law Act (1975) and the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act (1998). This ensures all actions are aligned with legislative provisions. The ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly and respectfully, especially when providing telephone or video counselling to vulnerable and distressed clients, is vital. Additionally, the candidate should be capable of appraising and critically reflecting on their clinical work, demonstrating experience and skills in working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. A valid Working with Children Check is required.

  • Part time, 2-3 days per week
  • Located in Lewisham/Bankstown, Sydney
  • Hourly rate of $41.52 - $47.50 plus super plus salary packaging

 

What you’ll bring

The candidate must hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, or an equivalent field is eligible for membership with relevant professional boards or associations. They have extensive experience and skills providing case management and counselling services to individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and children with demonstrated ability in systemic practice and theory. The candidate must demonstrate experience and skills in working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities and possesses a valid Working with Children Check. Also, they must have solid understanding of current Child Protection Legislation and significant experience in working with post-separation issues and the Family Law Act.  Candidates must be skilled in providing therapeutic interventions and counselling within a trauma-informed practice model, adept at assessing and responding to the impact of issues such as separation, domestic and family violence, mental health, substance abuse, grief and loss, and child protection. Additionally, they excel in collaborating actively, communicating clearly, and responding with respect, including providing telephone or video counselling to vulnerable and distressed clients.
