HCF joins PACFA’s growing list of private health fund providers

PACFA is delighted to announce its newest Private Health Fund agreement with HCF, Australia’s largest not-for-profit health fund. This agreement will improve access to essential mental health care for Australians.

PACFA members whose clients hold Private Health Insurance with extras cover may be able to claim benefits for counselling services. The client will need to check with their health fund as to whether they are eligible for rebates.

To apply for HCF recognition, a PACFA member needs to:

  • Hold current PACFA Clinical Membership and adhere to

  • Continuously hold a current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011)

  • Hold Professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Liability Insurance ($2M cover professional indemnity and $20M cover public liability)

  • Be in Independent Private Practice: This means that you must be in a professional practice (whether sole, partnership or group) that is self-supporting. This means that your practice’s accommodation, facilities and services are not provided or subsidised by another party such as a Public Hospital or publicly funded facility.

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Counselling (AQF Level 7) or Master's Degree (AQF Level 9) in Counselling

  • Comply with Terms and Conditions for HCF Recognised Providers of Extras Services as amended from time to time, and .

Please note that counsellors can take advantage of point of service claiming so clients do not need to pay and claim, but only pay the gap.
