As a full member of Allied Health Professionals Australia, PACFA has recently been part of a GST exemption campaign aimed at state and territory treasurers leading up to the next Council of Federal Financial Relations (CFFR) meeting in June 2023.
This campaign advocates for the implementation of a principles-based statute for recognition of exempt health services, and for this to include tertiary qualified Allied Health professionals such as PACFA members. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are explicitly included in the list of professions to be considered for GST exemption alongside Exercise Physiologists, Art Therapists, Orthotists and others. The CFFR is a key decision-making body for these taxation regulation and policy changes advising the federal Treasurer and ATO.
