PACFA members support Northern NSW community

PACFA counsellors and psychotherapists have joined other therapists in supporting the mental health needs of the Northern NSW community affected by floods.

PACFA member Carlie Atkinson, the convenor of the College of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Practices, has helped establish The Northern Rivers Community Healing Hub to support flood recovery.

The hub, which is grounded in the trauma-informed and regulating practices of First Nations peoples, is based in Lismore and coordinated by a self-organising network of Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members and professionals.

Practitioners are asked to join the Healing Hub Facebook group and share relevant self-regulating resources to continue to support communities affected by flooding.

Northern NSW residents affected by the floods who need mental health support can contact one of the volunteer telehealth practitioners listed with the Healing Hub, or complete a booking request form for face-to-face services.
