PROGRAM OVERVIEW
In a clinical setting, practitioners are often expected to run group sessions, yet group facilitation isn’t always a natural extension of their therapeutic skill set. This 3-day intensive training is for qualified practitioners who wish to build their knowledge and skills in facilitating trauma informed groups and programs.

PROGRAM FRAMEWORK
Delivered over three full days, the content and structure of the program is designed to help participants become more confident in facilitating groups and dealing with the therapeutic dynamics. Through a series of instructional and role-play sessions participants will learn how to develop trust and cohesion within the group, set and maintain firm boundaries and guidelines, be able to hold space and respond to challenges of group work.
The program will incorporate on-going assessment to allow the participant to demonstrate integration and application of the skills and knowledge acquired.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Participants will be expected to achieve the following objectives:
- Develop skills and techniques for trauma informed facilitation
- Learn tools and techniques to run successful group sessions
- Appreciate how the stages of group development influence group dynamics
- Successfully set and maintain boundaries and contracts whilst working with groups
- Learn to recognise conflict and emotional triggers in order to support the individual and maintain group cohesion.
- Identify and understand client roles within a group
- Learn to facilitate and support inner work in a group setting – Helping individuals and group stay with feelings.
- Self Care – Understanding the importance of maintain practitioner wellbeing.
PROGRAM FACILITATORS
The program will be delivered by two qualified therapy practitioners who hold relevant qualifications in the subject matter and have jointly specialised in trauma work and group facilitation for over 30 years.
