PACFA's staff support our members, who are counsellors, psychotherapists, academics and students of the counselling and psychotherapy field. We also perform an important advocacy and self-regulating role on behalf of our membership and the profession.

Johanna de Wever

Johanna de Wever (she/her)

CEO

MICDA (BA, Grad Dip Media)

Johanna de Wever has worked in advocacy, communications and membership for not-for-profit organisations for 20 years. In previous roles she has advocated successfully for policy, practice and legislative change in key areas of alcohol, dental, medicines and mental healthcare policy at organisations including the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, the Brotherhood of St Laurence and the Alcohol & Drug Foundation. Johanna specialises in working with professional membership groups to grow profile, drive quality improvement and increase capacity for the benefit of the community.

Johanna was appointed as CEO in March 2021. She is responsible for implementing an operational plan to support achievement of PACFA's strategic goals.

Maria Rashid (she/her)

Executive Assistant

Maria is an experienced Executive Assistant who enjoys keeping things organised behind the scenes. She thrives in fast-paced environments and takes pride in helping leaders stay focused on what matters most. Known for her proactive approach and attention to detail, Maria will provide structure to PACFA.

Eliza Barry (she/her)

Partnership Liaison Advisor

Eliza has worked in policy and public affairs, with experience across the government and non-profit sectors. Eliza is eager to apply her experience in policy development and stakeholder engagement to support PACFA and the wider psychotherapy and counselling industry.

Michelle Pearce (she/her)

Corporate Services Manager

BBus (Accounting), CPA, Cert. in Not-for-Profit Governance

Michelle brings over 15 years’ experience in senior finance roles across education, health, and not-for-profit organisations. She has built her career helping mission-driven organisations strengthen their systems, governance, and processes so teams can focus on delivering meaningful outcomes. At PACFA, Michelle leads corporate services including finance, HR, governance, and systems, and is passionate about supporting teams and implementing practical solutions that help the organisation achieve its strategic goals and make a real difference in the community.

Registration and Membership Team

Our Registration and Membership Team are the first point of contact for all registration and membership enquiries. They manage a variety of tasks including registration applications, assisting with registration renewals and leave applications, monitoring the membership inbox and handling general membership registration. You may find the information you need at the ‘Become a member’ and ‘Membership’ sections of our website.

Jineen Basheer

Jineen Basheer (she/her)

Registration and Membership Manager

Jineen drives the Registration and Membership function at PACFA, including registration application assessments, renewal campaigns, register audits, and private health fund compliance. She also oversees PACFA’s relationships with key partners, including private health funds, insurance provider, and police check agency. With over a decade of experience in the not-for-profit sector, Jineen is committed to enhancing the member experience and building a strong, engaged professional community aligned with PACFA’s purpose.

Sean Scanlon

Sean Scanlon (he/him)

Team Leader, Member Services

Sean oversees PACFA’s Member Services team, ensuring smooth communication and support for registrants. He manages membership processes, responds to enquiries, and upholds PACFA’s professional standards, helping members navigate registration and compliance requirements.

Project Coordinator – Membership Rebates

Luke manages PACFA’s private health fund and rebate processes, overseeing provider number coordination, compliance, audits, reporting, and stakeholder relationships. He works to streamline workflows and enhance member access to private health recognition.

Senior Registration and Membership Officer

Sitong supports the delivery of PACFA's registration and membership services, providing assistance with member enquiries and registration processes. She helps streamline workflows to ensure a smooth member experience, while contributing to projects that enhance systems, processes, and compliance.

Practice Team

The Practice team delivers ethical mechanisms including complaints and practice safety, and stakeholder relationship management including conferences and community engagements.

Sophie Keramidopoulos

Sophie Keramidopoulos (she/her)

Head of Practice

Sophie has a rich background in Science and Counselling. Prior to joining PACFA, Sophie worked for not-for-profit organisations as a counsellor for over 10 years, also managing the National Counselling Service for a sexual and reproductive health provider.

Janelle Richardson (she/her)

CIHP Project Officer

Janelle is a proud GunaiKurnai woman with Palawa ties. As the College of Indigenous Healing Practices (CIHP) Project Officer, Janelle drives key initiatives, focusing on a membership framework aligning with Training Standards and completing the Healing Hub project for Indigenous Healing Practitioners' resources.

Finance and Special Projects Coordinator

Lauren provides finance administration and administrative project support across the organisation.

Alex Roberts (she/her)

Ethics Coordinator

Alex is the key contact for concerns relating to practice for our members, and for our Ethics Committee (ECom). Alex will often act as a referral point and offer general support to members with ethical concerns. Alex is also the key contact for members of the public who have concerns about the ethical practice of a PACFA member.

Tyler Hitchens (he/him)

Ethics and Practice Coordinator

Tyler is a PACFA Clinical Registrant specialising in Family Therapy with over 20 years’ experience in youth work, child protection, case management and therapeutic services. He is PACFA’s Ethics and Practice Coordinator, supporting registrants with ethics enquiries and contributing to Good Practice Guidelines to strengthen ethical practice.

Education Team

Our Education Team serves as the primary resource for all education, training and accreditation related queries and support. They are responsible for various tasks, including managing education provider applications, facilitating the accreditation process, handling course endorsement queries and overseeing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities. Whether it’s supporting education providers with the program accreditation and course endorsement process or providing guidance on engaging CPD opportunities, the Education Team is dedicated to fostering a robust and enriching learning experience for our members. Nghi Robinson

Nghi Robinson (she/her)

Deputy Chief Executive Officer
Head of Education

With a background in science and a dual qualification in Primary and Secondary education, Nghi brings a wealth of knowledge and extensive experience in process and continuous improvement to her role at PACFA. Prior to joining the team, Nghi was the Accreditation Manager at the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. She has also held senior roles at the Australian Dental Council and the Australia and New Zealand School of Government as well as enjoying over a decade of leadership roles in education across Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom.

Irina Sergeeva

Continuing Professional Development Coordinator

Irina is primarily responsible for PACFA’s Professional Development (PD) activities. This includes providing advice and support to the PACFA Colleges and Branches to create and deliver PD opportunities, and to coordinate and deliver existing and new PACFA PD.

Education Projects Officer, Accreditation

As a member of the Education team, Jess provides support across our accreditation services. Her expertise ensures the smooth operation of the accreditation process and enriches the experience for all our members and stakeholders. Jess’ contributions are essential to maintaining the high standards of the accreditation function and member relations, aligning with PACFA’s mission to lead the profession with a commitment to excellence.

Alicia Perry

Alicia Perry (she/her)

Branch Liaison Officer, Continuing Professional Development

With a background in relationship building and learning and development, Alicia focuses on coordinating and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of community CPD events. She plays a crucial role in strengthening the efforts of PACFA leadership volunteers and facilitating their contributions to PACFA’s mission.

Education Project Support Officer, Accreditation

As part of the Education team, Daphane provides administrative and project support across the education provider accreditation process with a strong focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and stakeholder support. Daphane is passionate about supporting educational quality and continuous improvement processes.

Education Projects Officer, Endorsement

Shilpa comes with extensive experience in the education sector. With focus on evaluating and supporting educational projects she has played a key role in ensuring initiatives align with institutional goals, comply with regulatory standards, and achieve positive outcomes. Shilpa effectively reviews applications, provides strategic endorsements, and monitors progress to ensure quality and success. Passionate about enhancing the educational experience, she thrives in environments that foster innovation and continuous improvement in learning programs and policies.

Marketing and Communications Team

The Marketing and Communications Team is responsible for strategic brand development and advocacy for the profession. It produces the monthly eNews, PACFA website content, manages social media, liaises with media, and promotes PACFA publications such as PACJA, the Psychotherapy and Counselling Journal of Australia.

Hannah Wolf

Communications Coordinator

Hannah is educated in Communications with experience in writing, content creation, and media relations. As the Communications Co-ordinator, she assists in internal and external communications and coordinates campaigns.

Jane Marsden

Jane Marsden (she/her)

Editor, Psychotherapy and Counselling Journal of Australia (PACJA)

A PACFA-registered clinical counsellor, Jane (MCouns, BA Psych) has edited PACJA, the official e-journal of PACFA, since April 2022. Jane works closely with the PACFA Research Committee, editorial board, authors, peer reviewers, copy editors and other stakeholders to ensure PACJA makes original and significant contributions to evidence-informed theory, policy, and practice for psychotherapy, counselling, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healing practices.
