What you’ll do

Join us at the Faculty of Health as a Senior Lecturer in Counselling and play a pivotal role in advancing our teaching excellence. You will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to your discipline, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to embrace new challenges.Your commitment to student learning will be reflected in your coordination and delivery of units, working with students on placement and supervision of research projects. As an innovative educator, you will forge strong connections with domestic and international stakeholders and industry.The successful applicant will have considerable experience as a professional Counsellor, and will hold (at minimum) a Master’s degree in counselling and clinical supervision qualifications.

  • Full time, continuing opportunity; 37.5 hours per week
  • UC Level C, $134,096 pa - $154,203 pa + 17% Super
  • Located in Bruce, ACT

 

What you’ll bring

Primary responsibilities

The occupant of this position will be required to: 

  • Prepare and deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical classes, workshops and assessments, accommodating different modes of delivery as appropriate
  • Undertake course and unit coordination
  • Conduct clinical supervision and manage student placements in the counselling clinic
  • Design and deliver authentic, innovative assessments
  • Lead, promote and provide student support and guidance
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with clinical partners regarding clinical placements
  • Undertake continual professional development in education innovation
  • Lead, promote and support excellence in disciplinary and interdisciplinary activities and scholarship
  • Lead, promote and support collaboration within the Discipline, School, Faculty and University community
  • Maintain personal academic standing, and work with colleagues to build local and national and recognition for the Discipline, School, Faculty and the University
  • Lead, develop and maintain effective links with industry, relevant professional bodies, government departments (ACT and Commonwealth) and community groups relevant to the initiatives of the Discipline, School and Faculty
  • Participate in broad administrative functions and management activities as required, including active participation in School, Faculty and University meetings, committees and outreach activities
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive culture in the faculty and University
  • Other relevant duties by negotiation with the Discipline lead or Head of School

Eligibility requirements

  • Extensive clinical experience in the delivery of counselling and clinical supervision
  • Hold a post-graduate qualification in a field relevant to this position
  • Ability to provide teaching at the tertiary education level
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching online distance education programs at a tertiary educational level
  • Demonstrated experience in course and unit administration
