Case Worker - Talent Pool

Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.


About the role:

We are looking for dynamic, passionate, and committed Case Workers and use this recruitment to create a statewide talent pool for similar ongoing or temporary vacancies we have over the next 18 months in the following offices: Central Sydney, Parramatta, Dubbo, Lismore, Newcastle and Wagga Wagga

The Case Worker will provide support to clients going through family law and/or care and protection proceedings with complex social and legal needs including referral assistance, risk assessment, safety planning, support in attending Court, as well as other services. Provide clinical expertise to address the socio-legal needs of victims of domestic and family violence, people experiencing mental health issues and/or with complex trauma histories. We offer in-house peer supervision, internal career progression options, flexible work arrangement, and a competitive salary up to 122k.

As a Case Worker, you provide support to people with complex social and legal needs including referral assistance, risk assessment, safety planning, support in attending Court as well as other services. You will have proven experience or capability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients. You will use your clinical expertise to address the socio-legal needs of people going through family law and/or care and protection proceedings. You will be willing to work in a holistic and collaborative way with lawyers and paralegals to support the needs of our clients.

  • Full-time roles available
  • Located in Central Metro, Dubbo, Lismore, Newcastle and Wagga Wagga, NSW
  • Salary at Clerk Grade 6/7 - $110,010 - $109,194 plus superannuation and leave loading

What you'll need to succeed:

Essential criteria:

  • 5 years' minimum relevant experience
  • Minimum Diploma (AQF 5) and above (2 years' study minimum)
  • Willingness to undergo a Criminical Record Check and/or Working with Children Check
  • Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
