We specialise in supporting people with concerns related to alcohol and other drugs (AOD), mental health, transitioning from corrective services, veterans' wellbeing, and gambling. 

  
What you’ll do

We are currently looking for an experienced Alcohol and Other Drugs Counsellor to join our geographically diverse team in North Queensland. This is a six-month fixed term, part time role working a minimum of two days per week (with the possibility of extended hours). With an established career in AOD or Mental Health Counselling, you will be confident and capable with all aspects of assessment and case management, and will satisfy the position criteria.

  • Part-time role (2+ days per week)
  • Six month, fixed term position
  • Hourly rate between $41 - $44 plus superannuation and salary packaging
  • Located in Mackay and the Whitsundays

 

What you’ll bring

The successful candidate will hold a degree in the field of Human Services, or a Diploma and several years of experience, hold a current Australian Drivers Licence, and a Working with Children Check.. They will also offer the following skills and attributes:

  • Experience working with a broad range of clients including adults, families, and young people
  • A background in the development of individual treatment plans and facilitation of group programs
  • Knowledge of pre- and post-rehabilitation support and relapse prevention planning
  • Robust understanding of cultural awareness and safety with the capacity to support people from diverse backgrounds
  • Self-starting and self-managing, as the successful candidate will be required to manage their caseload on a daily basis
  • Being a team player is important, but the successful candidate will also need to be comfortable working independently and remotely, with regular support from their Team Leader
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Confidence to contribute to case conferences and team discussions with an eagerness for ongoing change and improvements
  • Able to produce accurate, relevant reports and case-notes while complying with all legislative requirement
