About me

My practice
Melissa is a Registered Mental Health Occupational Therapist (OT) and Clinical Counsellor (Masters of Counselling). She is eligible to provide focussed psychological services under a Mental Health Care Plan provided by a GP.  She has worked in the area of mental health and severe disability with families as an Occupational Therapist for over 30 years in both public and private domains. Melissa provides individual and family counselling to young people and adults.

Over the last 12 years melissa has worked solely in private practice and has developed experience with young people and adults experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, adjustment issues, interpersonal and, family difficulties. She particularly enjoys working with young people over the age of 15 years who have difficulties with managing anxiety and stress in relation to study and those who also have difficulties within their family system. Melissa is also a credentialed Eating Disorder Clinical and enjoys working with young people and adults with disordered eating.

She is an accredited provider of the Cool Kids anxiety management program which was developed by the Centre for Emotional Health at Macquarie University.  

Using evidence based therapies is a key component of Melissa'a practice and she draws from Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT and CBT-E). She is trauma informed. She has done additional training in the therapies outlined above and continues to do ongoing professional development in these areas.

As a recognised allied health provider of Focused Psychological Services, Melissa is able to offer Medicare rebates and/ or Private Health Fund Rebates for approved clients.
