Transfer your membership to PACFA

PACFA has introduced a new registration pathway for current Level 2-4 members of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) who hold Bachelor or Masters level qualifications. This pathway, designed to accommodate more flexible placement and online training options, recognises the value of substantial professional practice and ongoing commitment to registration. It aims to strengthen the representation of tertiary-qualified counsellors and psychotherapists across Australia.

  • Eligibility: Open exclusively to ACA members as of 18 November 2023, with the necessary academic and professional credentials.
  • Dual Membership: Members can retain affiliations with both PACFA and ACA.

To support this expert workforce:

  • Fee Waiver: PACFA will waive all application fees for transferring ACA members until 1 July 2024. Note, registration fees are separate and due upon application approval.
  • Registration Benefits: Eligible members will automatically join as Registered Clinical Counsellors and as members of the College of Counselling, without needing additional client contact hours.

All Private Health Insurance provider numbers will remain valid during the transition period.

Application processing is estimated to take no more than 4 weeks.

If you have any questions or require assistance with the registration transfer process, please contact [email protected] for assistance.

PACFA continues to welcome applications from graduates of non-PACFA accredited tertiary courses via our standard application procedures. Please note that PACFA does not accept vocational qualifications for registration.
