Developing Narrative Therapy Practices

PACFA College of Creative and Experiential Therapies Webinar

Developing Narrative Therapy Practices

Tuesday 3 December 2024 - 7:00pm - 8:30pm (AEDT)

Please check your timezone to avoid disappointment

Recording provided to all registrants

PACFA's College of Creative and Experiential Therapies is pleased to invite you this online PD presented by Kim Billington.

With case examples from child counselling in particular, this PD offers practical ways to bring narrative practices into your clinical work with people of all ages.

Participants will discover new playful approaches in response to old problems, which can open up possibilities for our clients to explore their strengths, values and to reduce the power of shame.

Learning Objectives

  • naming and ‘externalising’ the problem
  • determining the ‘effects of the problem’
  • ‘scaling the effects’ of the problem
  • looking at the history of the problem
  • unpacking ‘power dynamics’ & expectations from the person’s culture
  • finding out ‘what is important to the person’ and why
  • ‘double listening’ to the person and the problem and exceptions to the problem’s dominance

This short PD would be suitable for beginners to narrative therapy or those already using it with adults, interested in exploring child counselling.
