Relationship therapy: Child Sexual abuse survivors

PACFA

Relationship Therapy: a context for supporting healing and recovery for survivors of Child Sexual Abuse and their partners

7:00pm - 9:00pm AEDT 15 March

This webinar will explore the powerful potential for building and healing relationships, in which recovery from CSA becomes a lived reality in relationships.

Julie Blyth and Eric Hudson will lead a conversation focussing on the practice knowledge relevant to relationships where there is a childhood history of Child Sexual Abuse. The complex and intricate dynamics of the relationship counselling process will be explored: establishing a safe and reliable counselling relationship; managing the presenting relationship dynamics, while holding space for disclosures; navigating confidentiality; supporting recovery in the context of the relationship.

The webinar will provide practical insights for effective therapeutic interventions:

  • enhancing trust;
  • empowering survivors and partners to manage issues of power and control;
  • identifying strategies for creating safe life and relationship experiences;
  • managing negative interaction patterns within relationships;
  • supporting respectful conversations where issues of relationship intimacy and sexuality might be addressed.
