Cultivating Therapeutic Virtues for Real-Time Clinical Practice

A Three-Part Webinar Series for Psychologists & Psychotherapists | Socrates • Plato • Aristotle  What is it really like to sit in the therapist’s chair when there is no clear roadmap and meaning is still emerging? Therapy often involves uncertainty, hesitation, ambiguity, and not-knowing. Yet these moments are not signs of therapeutic inadequacy, but part of the lived experience of therapeutic practice itself. These webinars explore the importance of what the ancient Greeks called virtue — the development of the therapeutic qualities, judgment, and emotional attunement required to remain thoughtful and responsive in conditions of uncertainty.

Cultivating Therapeutic Virtues for Real-Time Clinical Practice is a three-part interactive CPD webinar series designed to strengthen clinicians’ capacity to work effectively within the uncertainty, complexity, and emotional demands of therapeutic practice. The series draws on key philosophical insights from Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle and applies them directly to contemporary psychotherapy and counselling practice.

The course is designed for psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, and mental health practitioners seeking to deepen their therapeutic judgement, emotional attunement, and reflective clinical presence in real-time therapeutic encounters.

A central theme of the series is that uncertainty, ambiguity, hesitation, and not-knowing are not signs of therapeutic inadequacy but are part of the lived experience of therapeutic practice itself. The webinars explore how therapists can work thoughtfully within such conditions and cultivate the therapeutic virtues required for responsive and ethically grounded practice.

The series consists of three two-hour interactive online sessions:
Session 1: Socrates and the Curiosity of Not-Knowing
Session 2 Plato and Therapy as Leading out of Darkness
Session 3, Aristotle and practical wisdom
