Five Registration Requirements - 2023/2024

Requirement 1. You must have a minimum of 20 CPD hours

All Clinical, Certified Practising and Academic PACFA members must complete at least 20 CPD hours each membership year (1 July - 30 June) of which at least 10 CPD hours must be Category A CPD.

Previously approved grace period

If you had a grace period applied to your logs in the previous membership year (1 July 2021 - 30 June 2022) you are required to complete those hours in the following membership year (1 July 2022 - 30 June 2023). For example, if you were granted a grace period of 6 CPD hours in June 2022, you are required to complete 26 CPD hours this membership year to be eligible to renew (20 hours minimum requirement + 6 hours of grace CPD from the previous year).

Joined PACFA mid-way through the membership year

If you joined PACFA on or after 1 August 2022, you are eligible for a pro-rata exemption. The pro-rata exemption has automatically been applied to your Renewal Form. To be eligible to renew, you only need to meet your specific CPD and Supervision hours requirements.

400 hours or more 15 hours
Mental Health Practitioner and Accredited Supervisors (regardless of number of client hours) 15 hours

*Even if you have a small number of client hours, you must meet the minimum supervision hours requirement.

Requirement 4. You must provide evidence of a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check

PACFA has recently adopted the same criminal history registration standard as the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

As such, as part of the 2023 renewal process, members must submit a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check certificate (formally 'National Police Check'), issued after 1 May 2021. Members who don't live in Australia are not required to submit a  National Police Check. Members who don't have a valid police check are free to choose their own provider. 'Urban Verified' is an example of one of the ACIC-accredited bodies that members can choose.

PACFA has partnered with Urban Verified to provide members with convenient access to a Nationally Coordinated History Check. To apply for a National Police Check through Urban Verified, click here.

Requirement 5. You must provide evidence of a Working with Children Check (if you work with children or adolescents)

As part of PACFA's work advocating for greater recognition of registered practitioners and ensuring our members meet the community's expectations of safety and quality, PACFA does not support practitioners working with children and young people (up to the age of 18 years) without having gained a valid Working with Children Check Clearance.

As part of the 2023 renewal process, members that work with children and young people must provide evidence of a valid Working with Children Check clearance.
