Following last year’s introductory webinar on Dissociative Disorders (DID), this webinar will focus on the crucial role of attachment in producing DID and the therapeutic relationship with people with DID.

Attachment is a survival instinct, an instinct for preserving our lives and health, yet in some situations it produces the opposite effect, and dramatically increases the risk of harm, or even death.

Our most difficult-to-reach, stuck or high-risk clients may well have such distortions of their attachment system; people with disorganised attachment in particular often experience life where chaos, loneliness, risk, ‘stuckness’ and suffering seem impossible to change. In this webinar, we will ‘zoom in’ on disorganised attachment and distinguish the specific sub-categories within it that are actively linked to DID.

Understanding the central role of attachment in DID, we will discuss some of the unique challenges and their implications for the therapeutic work.

Please note

This webinar is suitable for all mental health practitioners. Because this webinar includes case material and a Q&A, it will not be recorded. The slides shown will be made available to participants. Some case material may be distressing.

You are welcome to forward questions related to the topic that you would like answered at the webinar to [email protected] ahead of the webinar.
