Perinatal Counselling - supporting women and families

Queensland Branch

Perinatal Counselling - Supporting Women and Families in the Postpartum

6:00pm - 8:00pm AEST 12 November

This webinar will focus on the mental health of women and families in the perinatal period. It will focus on normalising rather than pathologizing the period of matrescence (the transition from woman to mother), as well as identifying indicators of postnatal disorders during this period. It will look at how best to support mothers through compassion focussed interventions, linkages with the community and engaging with peer support (the importance of connection). We will also look at the impacts of birth trauma on the recovery of women and the benefits of having a professional tribe in place to support women in the first 12 months.

This webinar counts as 2 hours of Category A CPD (Continuing Professional Development).

Presenter: Eliza Pike

Eliza Pike is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with 21 years experience, a registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator and Director of Blackbird House, a counselling service assisting new parents with the adjustment to pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period.
