Grief Education Programme

Shapes of Grief is an online Grief Education Programme featuring Grief theorists, academics and clinicians from around the globe. It has been designed by clinicians for clinicians to address the deficit in grief education in many of our core trainings. The programme is divided into four modules: 

1. Theories & Models of Grief, featuring Dr Irvin Yalom, Liz Gleeson, Dr George Bonanno, Dr Colin Murray-Parkes, Dr Robert Neimeyer, Professor Margaret Stroebe, Professor Jon Mills, Professor Denis Klass.

2. Topology of Grief: Prolonged Grief Disorder, Anticipatory Grief, Disenfranchised Grief, Ambiguous Loss

3. Persepctives of Grief & Types of Loss: Black grief, LGBT grief, Perinatal Bereavement, Parental bereavement, Children & Grief, Separation & Divorce grief, Sibling death, Grief in Older people, suicide bereavement.

4. Grief in Clinical Practice: Traumatic grief, physiology of grief, pain & choice in grief, death anxiety & death denial, supporting tender death, the polyvagal theory, grief counselling & grief therapy, burnout and self care for clinicians, when a child is terminally ill, the needs of a family when a child is terminally ill, creating a resilience cloak (Dr Diana Sands), ethical practice in grief counselling, who looks for grief therapy, 

The programme involves twenty-six international specialists in the field of grief and loss, developed by Irish Grief Psychotherapist Liz Gleeson, MA Dramatherapy, MSc Bereavement Studies, MA Psychotherapy

This course can count towards 40 hours of Category B CPD.
