Core Skills in Family Therapy E-Learning Course

Self-paced online short course, available for immediate start

This program introduces the key systemic and relational approaches that underpin effective family therapy practice. Participants will explore how to conduct and use genograms and ecograms, undertake family assessments (with whole or partial family systems), and apply foundational models including Structural, Solution-Focused, Milan, and Narrative Therapy. The course also provides an introduction to contemporary, evidence-based approaches such as Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT), Multisystemic Therapy (MST), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and Maudsley Family-Based Treatment (FBT).

Through video demonstrations, reflective tasks and applied exercises, participants gain practical tools to strengthen therapeutic alliances, formulate systemic interventions and work effectively with families across diverse contexts. The course also provides access to an extensive library of readings and clinical resources to support continued learning and integration into practice.

Designed for clinicians at all stages of practice, this flexible e-learning course offers CPD recognition and self-paced study across six modules. Each module provides a theoretical overview of family therapy principles and an introduction to contemporary models of practice. Enrolment includes 12 months of access to all materials, allowing participants flexibility in completing the training.
