Counsellors and Primary Health Network
This webinar provides participants with valuable information on the Stepped Model of Care in Mental Health and the primary mental health care landscape, as well as some of SA’s primary health networks. Participants will also learn what to do if a client is in crisis and where to refer them.
The webinar consists of two parts. The first part is an information session by the Adelaide PHN, presented by Simon McMahon, the Primary Mental Health Care System Lead, who discusses the Stepped Model of Care and the new referral tool being utilised by the PHN and GP clinics.
The second part is presented by Kristin Soyland, a member of the PACFA SA Leadership Group, who has 12 years of experience in the SA non-government mental health sector, from client-facing roles to management of teams.
This webinar provides a better understanding of the PHN and its role in mental health, as well as the Information, Assessment and Referral tool. They will also gain insight into how to manage a client in crisis, who to call, and where to refer them, including how to escalate and advocate for them in the system.
For counsellors who are looking to increase their availability for client work/referrals from GP Clinics, this webinar will offer valuable opportunity to hear about experiences of engaging local GPs, as currently there is no clear cut pathway for it.
