Schizoid Personality Disorder - the other 'PD'

Schizoid Personality Disorder - the other 'PD'
Sometimes we come across clients whose presentation just doesn’t seem to make sense. For example, they may say they are suicidal, but not actually be experiencing any distress and may actually look quite cheerful in their mood. They may have what seems to be a great therapy session, but then not come back. They may appear to be meek and deferential on the one hand, but then express quite sadistic fantasies on the other.

In this presentation, Dr. Sameh Younan will explain how this presentation fits the ‘Schizoid’ personality disorder classification as per James Mastersons’ model. He will explain specific themes of therapy which are more applicable for the these clients.

This PD will present the Masterson model of psychotherapy, briefly explaining the 3 personality disorders from his model, then elaborating on the schizoid model.

This webinar may be suitable both for beginners and advanced therapists interested in this topic. It will contain theory, case studies and experiential exercise.

Participants of this PD will learn:

How to recognise these clients
How to work with someone who struggles to identify emotions
Recognising the transference reactions these clients experience in therapy
