Crossing Boundaries in Counselling

The top ethical breaches for counsellors typically result from boundary violations. A panel of experts with counselling and management experience, along with a lawyer with expertise in health law will explore the how, why and what causes boundary breaches. A case study will be examined. In addition, the panel will discuss good practices to maintain healthy boundaries with clients.


Presenters:

Dr. Paul Scully (Facilitator): A lecturer at the University of Southern Queensland, practicing counsellor, clinical supervisor and former CEO.

Brad Fitzgerald: A practicing lawyer with speciality in health law having served the Legal Services Commission Queensland. Sessional academic in health and mental health law.

Gail Smith: An experienced counselling, clinical supervisor and human services manager including youth and family services.

Richard Johnson: A former Chief Operations Officer, with extensive experience as a counsellor, clinical supervisor and currently Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.
