PACFA QLD branch webinar

Counselling People Affected by Cancer

6:00pm - 8:00pm AEDT, 10 February 2023

This webinar will explore specific issues of which to be aware when counselling people affected by cancer, whether someone receiving treatment or a carer, family member or friend. It will discuss the importance of having good knowledge about oncology when working in this area and consider the impact on counsellors of their clients changing situations. Case studies will be used to highlight some of the issues raised.

Presenter: Maxine Rosenfield

With a background as a radiation therapist and manager of a cancer information service, Maxine Rosenfield became a counsellor in order to learn ‘how to talk more effectively with people impacted by cancer’.  Since then, she has worked as a trainer, lecturer, counsellor, supervisor, author and consultant. She has successfully operated a part time private counselling and supervision practice for 30 years, conducting face to face, telephone and live videoconference sessions for individuals and groups.
