Supervisor Training
This 36-hour accredited and endorsed supervisor training course is a well-developed, interactive, and engaging learning experience that is based in best practice standards. The training meets the criteria for registration as a supervisor with Psychotherapy and Counsellor Federation of Australia (PACFA), Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and the Australasian Association of Supervision (AAOS).
Clinical supervision is an important and ongoing process in the development of counsellors and psychotherapists in the profession. As such, supervision has become one of the most consistent requirements in the ongoing continuing education of counsellors and psychotherapists. Supervision is often experienced as a meaningful relationship that usually extends over time and includes mentoring, teaching and support as well as being evaluative in nature. The role and responsibilities of the clinical supervisor are distinct and different from those of a counsellor, yet many counselling professionals who provide clinical supervision have never received formal supervision training themselves.
The course will support the development of skills, knowledge, and current training standards with emphasis on the supervisor’s self-awareness and cultural responsiveness. The course will introduce supervision models as well as understanding how to work in different modes (face-to-face and telehealth). The course will include lectures, set readings, assessments tasks and engaging activities, such as group discussion, role plays, and practice dyads.
The Supervisor Training will be offered face-to-face in a beautiful environment and run over a four-month period as per standard training requirements. This course will include five teaching modules facilitated in-person over 5-days.
