Supporting Grieving Clients

Gain the knowledge and skills to confidently and sensitively support clients who are experiencing grief and bereavement.

This workshop is designed for professionals in education, health and care roles who want to gain expertise in the field of grief and bereavement.  

It provides participants with knowledge, skills and resources for providing bereavement care and support to clients across a range of services. 

At the end of this workshop, you will have gained: 

- An understanding of how grief and loss can present differently for different people 
- Communication skills for working sensitively, and inclusively with grieving clients 
- Strategies for supporting clients who are experiencing grief and bereavement 
- Knowledge of why self-care is important.

Presenter/s:

Lefteris Patlamazoglou is a counselling psychologist and lecturer in psychology and counselling at Monash University. In his counselling practice, and teaching and research work.?As a psychologist,?Lefteris has worked extensively with clients with issues relating to migration, grief, trauma and LGBTIQA+ identities.?He has also worked with clients with a variety of mental health issues, court-ordered parents and their children, and individuals and couples pursuing artificial reproductive treatment. Lefteris has a particular research interest in the wellbeing, grief and belonging of?LGBTIQA+?young people and adults and migrant populations. Lefteris adopts the framework of intersectionality, whereby individuals' multiple identities intersect to create novel experiences of mental health and illness, while operating as both protective and risk factors.

This course counts towards 3 hours of category A CPD.
