Sand, Symbols & Storytelling 5 Day CPD

22 - 26 April 2024, 9:00am - 4:00pm AEST

Prior knowledge and experience in sand therapy is essential in completing this practical hands on workshop.

Personal Development course to discover how symbols are used in sandtray for non-verbal storytelling, guided by the sandtray therapy framework.

In this hands on practical PD you will learn to be a storyteller and reader of sand worlds and learn the joys of how to tell stories using the sand & symbols. This PD is a fun activity that engages the soul, body and mind. 

 In this interactive workshop you will experience a new language, a language of symbols and meaning. These symbols are the expression of emotion, an unsaid word, an expression, feeling and a collective consciousness of wisdom and knowledge. We look into mythology, symbols and meaning, spiritualty, diverse cultures and more, through the lens of symbols and non-verbal storytelling.

Students learn in a purpose designed facility that accommodates thousands of symbols, diverse range of sand trays for storytelling. The PD is group interactive and suited to organisations wanting self-care or PD training for staff.

Day 1 & 2: Symbol Work, Sand and Storytelling. Learn about symbols, their meaning and how you give meaning to symbols as you create and build worlds. These symbols for a sand world, you will learn to see into worlds to see, feel and even hear the voice of the story.

Day 3 & 4: You will begin the day by creating a sand world, either a self world or a role play. You are encouraged to reflect on your creations. After the break the role play assessments will begin. 

Day 5: We look at group work and how to apply this to your practice.
