Working with Families:
Fundamentals of Systemic Family Therapy

This workshop covers the core concepts and techniques of family therapy practice, providing an overview of the influence of the major schools of thought on contemporary practice. The emphasis will be on applying theory as systemic practice, through teaching, demonstration, video, role play, case illustrations, group discussion and small group exercises.

• Understanding family of origin and multigenerational patterns
• Working with the influence of family relationships, stories, rules and patterns
• Use of genograms as a family assessment tool
• The first family interview for assessment and treatment
• Systemic formulation and treatment planning
• Individual vs family therapy - when to do what 
• Integrating family therapy as an evidence-based practice
• Maximizing opportunities for change in therapy

Presenter:

Christine Senediak, Snr Clinical Psychologist BA (M Clin Psych); M. Fam Ther; Accredited Family Therapy Supervisor AAFT; Accredited Psychology Supervisor Trainer and Supervisor (AHPRA) Christine Senediak is Director of Sydney Family Therapy Training Institute (SFTTI) based in Sydney, Australia, a subsidiary of Clinical Supervision Services.

Christine has over 40 years of experience working as a clinical psychologist, family therapist, educator and supervisor and has worked both in the public and private health systems specializing in working with children, adolescents and their families and specialist Cross Cultural Services and the Children’s Court Clinic. She provides supervision to addiction services, adolescent mental health inpatient and outpatient services, adult mental health and family support services. Christine maintains links with family therapy practices across Europe, South East Asia and America and most recently was an invited speaker at the international Family Therapy in Italy in 2023. 

This course counts towards 14 hours of category A CPD.
